CHARLEVILLE STARS & BEYOND

 

This trip is not your 5 star by any means.  The 17 hour long train ride out to Charleville covers some of South East Queensland's famous trails.

The train is a seat only and over night.  If you're looking for a quick escape this package won't start up till after 29th September.  If you're keen to go and experience a little touch of the Outback, give me a call and I'll check the dates.  

Located in southwestern Queensland, Australia, Charleville is 683 kilometres (424 mi) west of Brisbane (the Queensland capital). It is the largest town and administrative centre of the Shire of Murweh, which covers an area of 43,905 square kilometres. Charleville is situated on the banks of the Warrego River, and is the terminus for the Warrego Highway.
 
Discover the pioneering spirit of Queensland rugged outback as you follow in the path of Queensland's famed explorers on board the Westlander.
 
Travel west from Brisbane to Toowoomba and across the Great Dividing Range, through the rich farmlands of the darling Downs to Charleville.
The 777 kilometre scenic journey travels through the outback towns of Chinchilla, Roma and Mitchell.
 
ITINEARY
Day 1:
Brisbane to Charleville Board The Westlander this evening and journey to the outback town of Charleville.
Day 2: Charleville Arrive into Charleville and make your own way to your accommodation. Stay the next two nights at The Rocks Motel.
 
Day 3: Charleville (BL) Visit the Cosmos Observatory to view the sun through a specially designed solar telescope. Take a guided tour of the Cosmos Centre and learn about the solar system. After lunch, tour the remains of the WWII Top Secret USA Airfield. During the evening marvel at the clear night skies to where distant stars, galaxies and planets shine brightly.
Day 4: Charleville to Brisbane (B) Enjoy breakfast before the return rail journey. Overnight on board The Westlander.
 
Day 5: Brisbane Arrive into Brisbane where your tour concludes. (B = breakfast, L = lunch) Includes: • Return travel on The Westlander from Brisbane to Charleville – Economy Seat • 2 nights 4 star accommodation in Charleville • Meals as specified • Full day Outback Stars and Secrets
